Persistent Apple Tree by Eric Sloane, N.A. (left), and Persistent Apple Tree by Liz Tobin (EAS Member #138) (right)

Artist Liz Tobin (ESAS Member #138) began experimenting with “Dryer Lint Art” several years ago, after learning about this from watching HGTV. Her first exhibit was Trash Art: Re Use, Re Cycle, Re Purpose, held at the Eric Sloane Museum in 2013. Liz says that “This was my chance to be creative”. Liz chose to portray Eric’s Persistent Apple Tree because she was inspired by the mood of the original painting. She used sheep’s wool and horse hair to bring color and dimension to her dryer lint art, which helps her work come “alive”. I like to think that Eric would have been very impressed with Liz’s work, maybe trying some wool for his next cloudscape….
