Eric Sloane: American Modern @ the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent, CT

November 15th – A special “off season” day at the Eric Sloane Museum, a beautiful time to be at the museum. Exhibit creator and author Wil Mauch will be on hand to answer any questions about Eric Sloane, his life and work, Sloane’s relationship to the modernism movement. There will be a maker’s market, demonstrators, an Eric Sloane book sale, and a tool sale as part of this event.
Eric Sloane: American Modern – You’re familiar with Duchamp, Pollock, Calder, Stankiewicz, Johns, Nevelson, Rauschenberg, and Kosuth as giants of modern art, but what about Eric Sloane? This fascinating, historical, and immersive experience challenges visitors to view Sloane as a Modernist, something the artist would have vehemently denied. On display are replicas of Sloane’s sculpture and his “Placements” – the artist’s response to the Modernist movement. Exhibit creator and author Wil Mauch will be on hand to answer any questions about Eric Sloane, his life and work, Sloane’s relationship to the modernism movement.
